Biography:
Dr Ngo Wei Kiong is a Consultant with the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute (NHGEI) @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
Dr Ngo graduated from the National University of Singapore, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in 2009 and obtained Masters of Medicine (Ophthalmology) in 2016. He was chief resident during Ophthalmology residency. He also completed the Singapore Chief Residency Programme. Dr Ngo was awarded the Singapore Ministry of Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) scholarship and completed fellowships with Dr Richard Spaide (Vitreous Retina Macula Consultants of New York) and Dr Stephen Tsang (Columbia University, New York) in medical retina and inherited retinal diseases. He is a Clinical Lecturer with National University of Singapore, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Clinical Teacher with National Technological University, Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.
Dr Ngo is keenly involved in the field of Retina research and has an interest in diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and inherited retinal diseases. He has authored and co-authored more than 50 publications in book chapters and peer-review journals. Dr Ngo has also garnered numerous local and overseas research accolades. Local awards include Singapore Clinician Investigator Award (Gold) 2016 and Singapore Young Investigator Award (Gold) 2015 in Singapore Health and Biomedical Congress, best oral and poster presentations in National Healthcare Group Eye Institute International Ophthalmology Congress 2014 and National Ophthalmology Residents’ Research 2014. Overseas awards include best oral and poster presentations in Asia-Pacific Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstruction Surgery Oculoplastic Congress 2012 and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Symposium 2014. Dr Ngo also holds research grants from the NHG Clinician-Scientist Preparatory Programme, TTSH Pitch-for-funds Programme and NHGEI seed funding.
