Biography:
I obtained my undergraduate degree in Medicine and post-graduate degree in Ophthalmology from Delhi University, India. I was admitted as Fellow Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in the year 2003 and was conferred PhD degree from the National University of Ireland in the year 2008 based on my thesis entitled “Macular carotenoids in healthy and diseased retinae”. I have 20% of the protected time for carrying out research related activities from RISE 2019 (Researcher-Investigator-Scientist Enabler Grant Scheme). I have published fifty-five articles in the peer reviewed scientific journals and have successfully supervised a student for the Master’s degree with thesis entitled “Macular pigment in multiethnic population of Singapore” from University of Manchester. Currently, I am holding few Science - Translational and Applied Research-I grants and supervising another student for MPhil program from Queensland University of Technology, Australia for “Omics study in myopic macular degeneration”. In addition, I am also involved in teaching medical students during their surgical rotations from NUS and LKC medicine.
