Biography:
Assoc Prof Veluchamy A. Barathi is a renowned Vet & Molecular Biologist at the Singapore Eye Research Institute, with pivotal roles in understanding and developing new therapeutics for various ocular diseases. With a PhD from the National University of Singapore, her work spans myopia, glaucoma, ocular infectious diseases, to retinal degenerations and angiogenic diseases. Her expertise in animal models for ocular research is unmatched, contributing to over 135 peer-reviewed publications and securing more than US$ 30M in research funding. Beyond her research, Assoc Prof Barathi holds leadership positions within Singhealth/DUKE-NUS, chairing the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and leading the Singapore Translational Pre-Clinical Model Platform for Ophthalmology. Her accolades include multiple Novartis Research Prizes and awards for her outstanding contributions to veterinary and ophthalmology research.
